The Brief
One of our esteemed clients, Spectrum Solution based in Qatar, reached out to us with an idea—they wanted an app where their field sales agents could log in daily, mark their attendance, and provide real-time live location tracking as they moved between locations selling their products.
Spectrum Solution valued understanding the working hours and GPS-based location monitoring of their agents to gather deeper insights into their productivity and manage their field sales activity more effectively. Sterling Technolabs team discussed the requirements and decided to build a comprehensive solution in one single iOS app. A dedicated team consisting of a Business Analyst, UI/UX Designer, Senior Solution Architect, and Senior Developers was deployed to execute this custom app development project from scratch.
This approach ensured that attendance tracking, live location tracking, and field workforce management were seamlessly integrated into one solution.
The Challenge
Creating the attendance and live location tracking app for Spectrum Solutionʼs field sales agents wasnʼt without its hurdles. Hereʼs what we faced:
We needed to make sure that the app could track live locations using GPS in real-time without putting too much strain on the phoneʼs battery, which was a tough balance.
There was also the challenge of ensuring the app could reliably track attendance, even when agents were working in areas with spotty network connections.
We had to design the app with a simple, intuitive UI/UX so that agents could use it easily while they were out in the field and focused on selling.
Another key issue was implementing geofencing so managers could get precise data when agents entered or exited specific locations, which involved careful planning.
We also had to make sure that all data, from location to attendance logs, was secure and protected, especially with sensitive employee details at stake.
Finally, the app needed to be scalable to handle an increasing number of users and any additional features that might be added down the road.
Our Solution
To help Spectrum Solution address their needs, we built a custom iOS app that brought together attendance tracking, real-time location monitoring, and geofencing in a user-friendly and scalable solution designed specifically for their field sales agents.
Real-Time Location Tracking
We integrated a GPS-based tracking system that allowed managers to see exactly where their field agents were at any given time.
